Halo Lights: From Warehousing to Road Work
Inspiration strikes everywhere. And when prioritizing safety, we can’t limit that to an industry. Our latest option is inspired by warehousing.
Warehousing operations share a surprising number of similarities with traffic control and road construction. There are lots of people and machinery working simultaneously yet independently from each other in the same space, there’s a lot of heavy machinery involved, a lot of blind spots, a lot of distractions, and a lot of potential for serious accidents to occur.
Since its introduction to warehousing, the forklift halo light has helped drive down annual injuries to the lowest recorded since 2014. Mounted on a forklift, the halo light projects a dense line of light on the surface surrounding the vehicle to help visually alert intercepting personnel of a forklift’s activity and define space around the vehicle to safely function. With these same fundamental issues facing traffic crews, this option’s potential in the traffic control industry can’t be understated.
Even with all the advances in traffic control technology, we’re still seeing many accidents where drivers are distracted or otherwise fail to recognize and safely navigate to road work zones. These conditions become exponentially more difficult for drivers and traffic personnel during nighttime set-ups. This is where the Halo light can be a major game changer. Just like on a forklift, we are able to project a perimeter around the traffic pro bed, directing motorists away from it, creating a sense of space for traffic personnel to function within, and even visually communicate a sense of and/or quick shift in direction when the vehicle is in motion.
